Wedding Dress Silhouettes – Wedding Articles & Tips, Online Wedding Boutique

When choosing your wedding dress, there are many different styles to choose from. What is most important is that you find one that both flatters your figure and is comfortable.

The silhouette is the shape of the wedding dress.

The most common silhouettes are :

A-Line

The A-line style is perfect for a slimming shape and hiding a few flaws. It is the most figure-flattering silhouette featuring vertical seams flowing from the shoulders down to a flared skirt, creat

ing a an “A” shape.

Empire

The Empire silhouette features a high waistline (directly under the bust) and a skirt that starts just below the cropped bodice.

Ball Gown

The ball gown is the traditional wedding dress style, featuring a full bodice with natural waistline, well defined across and full skirted. It suits most body shapes and is ideal for drawing eyes to your face, collarbones and waist – and hiding troublesome hips.

Mermaid

The mermaid is not a style that is suitable for every shape. This wedding dress silhouette features a narrow style that fits tightly to the body and a skirt that flares at the knee. This sexy silhouette is suited to brides who like to show off their curvy shape.

Sheath

The sheath is another body-fitting dress that closely follows the line of the body. It is similar to the mermaid, however it does not flare at the knee and does not have a defined waistline. This style is comfortable to wear as it creates a clean, vertical line. The sheath is particularly flattering for the short bride who wants to appear taller.
